Burlington Couple Remembered At Memorial Service
BURLINGTON, Colo. (CBS4)- Friends and family remembered the Long couple at a memorial service on Friday morning. Police say Charles and Marilyn were shot to death by their 12-year-old son.
About 500 people attended the double funeral at the Burlington Community Center Friday.
Police found the couple dead inside their home on Tuesday, March 1. The 12-year-old allegedly attacked his two younger siblings, Ethan, 9, and Sarah, 5, with a knife. They are recovering.
The suspect's uncle, Wally Long, spoke to CBS4 before the service. He said his 12-year-old nephew wanted to attend the funeral, but he is being held in a juvenile detention facility in Greeley.
"When I spoke with him the other day he asked if he could come and of course, that was not going to be possible," said Long.
Prosecutors have charged him as a juvenile, but they could change and the suspect may be prosecuted as an adult.

Wally Long said he remembers his brother because of his unique perspective on life.
"He was content with his life in a small town. He was content with his seemingly lackluster job of delivering chips. He was just a content person. In this I looked up to him. And from him I learned a great lesson about contentment," said Wally Long.
Ethan has been moved out of intensive care at Children's Hospital in Aurora. The status of his sister Sarah's condition is unknown.
