Lafayette Man Charged With Murdering His Mother

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- The man accused of murdering his mother has been charged with second degree murder. Raszynski, 33, appeared in a Boulder County courtroom on Wednesday.

Raszynski was arrested in his mother's death one week after she was killed. After receiving several 911 calls on Feb. 23, police responded to 2817 Whitetail Circle. When they arrived, Raszynski told officers that his mother, Rita Redford, 60, had shot him repeatedly before he fatally "stomped" her head.

"The son called, said that his mother had shot him and that she was dead at the bottom of the staircase in the home," said Lafayette Police Department spokesman Gene McCausey on Feb. 23.

Raszynski remains in the Boulder County Jail on a $1 million bond. A preliminary hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to go forward with the second-degree murder charge is scheduled for May 23.
