Lakewood Man Accused Of Thefts From Golf Courses

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Broomfield, in conjunction with the Colorado Attorney General's office, have arrested a suspect in what they call "Operation Caddy Shack."

Marc Pierre Friel, 44, from Lakewood, is facing 20 counts of burglary and theft. He is accused of stealing more than $90,000 worth of items from nine golf courses all along the Front Range.

Among the items stolen are golf clubs, power tools, gasoline, computer parts and even a pickup truck from individuals and courses from Longmont to Lakewood.

"Just shock that so many places have been hit, and to happen in the same fashion as all the other ones did, phone lines cut, alarm torn out of the wall," Tim Schwartz with Broadlands Golf Course.

Friel is facing 20 counts of burglary and theft for the crimes between Nov. 2009 and June 2010. Investigators said each time he allegedly disabled security systems, cut phone lines or broke padlocks to get to the items.
