Denver Police Crackdown On Distracted Drivers

DENVER (CBS4)- Police in Denver were watching out for distracted drivers in the area of Santa Fe Blvd. and W. Evans Ave. this week. While conducting speed enforcement, they also were looking for distracted drivers.

Officers said some of the cases were extreme, including one woman who was driving five mph over the speed limit of 45 mph, while she was using both hands to apply makeup to her face.

Another person officers cited was attempting to set their iPod while eating breakfast and speeding.

Over the two-day period, officers wrote 15 citations for texting while driving or distracted driving, and 36 other violations including speeding.

Police in Denver support the "Put it Down" campaign, to cut down on distracted driving incidents.
