Drugs And Alcohol Ruled Out In Crash That Killed 5
THORNTON, Colo. (AP) - Police say they have ruled out drugs and alcohol as a factor in a horrific crash that killed a family of five.
Police in Thornton say no arrests have been made in the Feb. 18 crash that killed Randy and Crystal Stollsteimer and their three boys, ages 7, 9, and 12. An SUV driven by 33-year-old Monica Chavez crossed over the median, went airborne and landed on top of the Stollsteimer's truck, killing them. Chavez's SUV also hit a car and ran into a store in suburban Denver.
Thornton police say the crash remains under investigation.
More than 800 people turned out for a memorial service Friday in Lakewood to remember the family. The Rev. Jeffrey Kane, speaking at the service said the Sollsteimers died as they lived -- together.
