Vail, Ski Association On Good Terms Despite Split

VAIL, Colo. (AP) - The head of Colorado's ski industry group says the organization has a healthy relationship with Vail Resorts, the state's largest ski operator, nearly three years after the company withdrew its support.

Vail Resorts left Colorado Ski Country USA in 2008, saying the association should be spending more time on public policy and less time on marketing.

Ski Country President Melanie Mills tells the Vail Daily that her group regularly communicates with Vail Resorts officials and that there's no hostility between them.

Ski Country had to scale back when Vail Resorts backed out because the company accounted for about a third of the association's budget.

A Vail Resorts spokeswoman says the company regularly works with the association and other groups.
