Michelle Obama, Daughters Visit Vail For Holiday Weekend

VAIL, Colo. (AP/CBS4) – Michelle Obama and her daughters are spending Presidents Day weekend in Colorado.

Vail Mountain ski lift operators confirmed to the Vail Daily that Michelle Obama had been through the lift line with a Secret Service entourage Saturday.

Michelle Obama’s press secretary, Katie McCormick-Lelyveld, told The Washington Post the first lady and the Obama daughters were on a private family ski trip to Colorado, with several close family friends. She said personal expenses are being paid for by the Obamas.

They arrived Friday night and since then have been enjoying all that Vail has to offer. They are staying at the Sebastian Hotel. When the Obamas aren’t on the slopes, they’ve been staying fairly close to the hotel.

The First Lady had dinner at Kelly Liken’s restaurant. She was a contestant on Top Chef last season.

The Obamas plan to head back to Washington, D.C. on Monday.

Hello, I am delighted to hear about the Obama’s getting a chance to get away. I want to take this opportunity to invite Michelle Obama to read a book that was dedicated to her just before Inauguration. It is called: Go, Tell Michelle: African American Women Write to the New First Lady. Hundreds of women wrote letters and only 100 were selected. These women would love the opportunity to meet with the First Lady to continue to show their support. My colleague and I have sent this book to the White House by every method except Carrier Pidgeon and still no response. Can someone help us? Thanks
