THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4) – A police chase ended Tuesday around 3:30 p.m. after the suspect’s car crashed into a patrol car.
The crash happened near Steele Street on Thornton Parkway.
Denver police told CBS4 that they spotted a red Jeep Cherokee that was involved in a felony menacing case. When officers tried to stop it, the driver fled. Police said they considered the two men in the Jeep dangerous. That’s the reason that a large number of units were called to the scene.
Elijah Sanchez and his friends were walking home from school when they saw two men but didn’t think anything of it.
“We didn’t like really think they would be criminals because they were walking casual,” Sanchez said.
Sanchez said it was pretty frightening once he realized what was happening.
“There were some guys walking right beside us and this cop came and said put your hands up,” Brayan Chacon said.
When the suspect’s Jeep crashed, the men got out and tried to run. Denver police said that one of the responding units quickly pulled in front of them and one of the suspects was hit by the patrol car.
“It just hit his leg like boom!” Sanchez said.
Medics arrived on the scene after the crash because the man who was hit was complaining of heart problems.
Both of the men were arrested.
