CSU Researchers Say 'Friends With Benefits' Valued By Both Sexes

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4)- Just in time for Valentine's Day weekend, a new study seeks to unravel a common relationship among adults of all ages.

Researchers at Colorado State University say when it comes to "friends with benefits," the friendship portion of the relationship is highly valued by both men and women.

The CSU study is the first to look at all ages of adults from college through grandparents and their attitudes toward casual sex.

Men said they had more of the relationships than women, 7 compared to 4 on average.

A majority of women said they started the relationship because they were interested in sex.

Once in the relationship, the men tended to remain more committed to the friendship than the sex.
