Couples Race For Chance To Win Wedding Of Their Dreams

DENVER (CBS4) - More than a dozen couples raced through the streets of north Denver on Sunday to compete for the chance to win an all-expenses paid wedding.

The 15 pairs, all engaged couples, were taking part in the second annual Hitched in the Highlands event. The fun event is billed as "an urban adventure race to the altar" and the winning couple gets a $20,000 wedding.

The challenge involved making bouquets, playing a "name that tune" game, buying liquor and forcing the future groom in the relationship to get a manicure.

The couples followed a set of clues to get to each stop in the challenge and found some challenges to be mental and others physical. Some couples said the experience was good for their relationship because they had to work through getting on each others' nerves as the event went on.

"Just having to do all the challenges and just finding out how well you work together ... I hope this is a good sign for the marriage," one couple told CBS4.

In just a couple of hours Paul and Elizabeth were the first to make it to the finish line.

"It was a wedding that we never ever would be able to afford ourselves and it was so much fun," they told CBS4.

The winning couple will get married April 10. Their ceremony and reception will be held at the Mile High Station.
