DENVER (AP) — Nick Shore had two goals Saturday to lead Denver to a 5-3 win over Colorado College and into a share of first place in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
With the win, second-ranked Denver moved past idle North Dakota into a first-place tie with Minnesota Duluth in the WCHA. Each has 29 points, one ahead of the Fighting Sioux.
The Pioneers (17-6-5, 13-4-3) shook off an early two-goal deficit to split the two-game home-and-home series. Colorado College (16-13-1, 10-10-0) beat Denver 3-2 on Friday.
Michael Boivin and Dakota Eveland scored in the first five minutes of the game for the Tigers. But Denver scored the next four goals, two by Shore and one each by Jarrod Mermis and Luke Salazar
Drew Shore had a goal and assist for Denver, which got 36 saves from Sam Brittain.
Joe Howe made 26 saves for Colorado College.
