Board: DIA Manager Violated Ethics Code
DENVER (AP) - The city of Denver's ethics board says Denver airport manager Kim Day violated the city's ethics code by accepting a paid trip to Greece from a company negotiating a contract with the airport.
The Denver Post reports the decision was mailed Monday.
London-based Insight Media Limited paid for Day's lodging and flight to attend a 2009 conference in Athens. At the time, Insight Media was negotiating with the airport for a $370,000 contract.
Day has said the contract's financial terms were already negotiated when she accepted the trip and that she sought advice from the ethics board beforehand. Board director Michael Henry has said his notes reflect a conversation but no discussion of the contractor paying for Day's trip.
The airport has since reimbursed $5,700 to Insight Media.
