Carson Soldier Sentenced To 10 Years Confinement
FORT CARSON, Colo. (AP) - A court-martialed Fort Carson soldier has been sentenced to 10 years confinement, reduction in rank and dishonorable discharge for a head-on collision on Colorado 115 last February that killed two soldiers.
KXRM-TV reports that a military panel on Saturday found Jordan Peters guilty of two charges of involuntary manslaughter and driving under the influence. Peters will also forfeit his pay while confined to a military or federal prison in the sentence handed down Sunday.
An attorney for Peters argued that the driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision crossed the center line, not Peters.
Post spokesman Devon Williams says Peters is an Iraq war veteran assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.
