Colorado Pot Grower Gets 5 Years In Federal Prison

DENVER (AP) -- A man who said he was following Colorado's medical marijuana law will serve five years in federal prison.

Christopher Bartkowicz was sentenced Friday after judge Philip Brimmer accepted a plea bargain reached with federal prosecutors.

Bartkowicz pleaded guilty to three drug charges after federal drug agents raided his suburban Highlands Ranch home last February and seized more than 100 plants growing in his basement.

The raid came after a Denver TV interviewed Bartkowicz about how much money he expected to make under Colorado's law. Federal agents say they targeted him because they believe he was growing more pot than allowed by the law.

Colorado's limits are flexible but Bartkowicz wasn't allowed to use state law in his defense.
