Balmer Banned From Colorado Senate For Losing Temper

DENVER (AP) -- Republican state Rep. David Balmer has been banned from the Senate floor this session for losing his temper while discussing congressional redistricting in the state Senate.

John Cevette, chief of staff to Senate President Brandon Shaffer, said Friday that Balmer will also have to make a public apology and not repeat the behavior.

Balmer say he's grateful that the issue has been resolved without a formal ethics investigation.

The incident happened Wednesday after the Senate had adjourned.

Balmer said he was wrong and he quickly apologized to Sen. Gail Schwartz of Snowmass after a sergeant at arms asked him to leave.

Balmer and Schwartz, both members of the congressional redistricting committee, they were discussing an upcoming meeting.
