DENVER (AP) — Kyle Ostrow scored two goals and Beau Bennett netted the game-winner in the third period as fourth-ranked Denver beat Alaska-Anchorage 3-2 on Friday in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
Bennett’s goal at 9:22 of the final period broke a 2-2 tie and moved the Pioneers (15-5-5, 11-3-3) into sole possession of first place in the WCHA. Denver has 25 points and holds a one-point lead in the standings over Minnesota-Duluth and North Dakota, which lost 8-4 to Nebraska-Omaha.
Ostrow scored nine seconds into the first period and again in the second. Mitch Bruijsten and Brett Cameron had goals for the Seawolves (7-11-3, 6-9-2), the latter tying the game 2-2 at 2:21 of the third.
Adam Murray made 21 saves for Denver and Rob Gunderson had 22 for the Seawolves.
