LAS VEGAS (AP) — Travis Franklin scored 24 points, including 18 in the second half, to lead Colorado State to a 78-63 victory over UNLV on Wednesday night.
Franklin not only scored six points during an 11-2 run that Colorado State (13-5, 3-1 Mountain West) used to take a 42-33 lead after being tied at 31. He also scored 11 of the Rams’ final 31 points.
Franklin, who made 9 of his 16 shots, also topped the Rams with eight rebounds.
UNLV (14-5, 2-3) never led and tied the score only twice. After the Rams went on their 11-2 run, the Rebels got no closer than 53-50. Four consecutive points by Justin Hawkins brought the Rebels as close as they would get during the final 14:05.
The Rebels were led by Chace Stanback’s 16 points. Anthony Marshall followed with 14.
The Rams got 18 points from Andy Ogide and 14 from Wes Eikmeier.
