Starbucks Decides To Join The Supersize Trend

DENVER (CBS4) - At almost any fast food chain a supersize menu can be found. Now Starbucks is joining the trend.

Starbucks says coffee drinkers are charged up and demanding bigger cups. Until now this Venti is as large a cup they used. But bigger is now brewing.

Now Starbucks will offer a 31-ounce Trenta-sized iced coffee or tea -- just 1 ounce less than 7-Eleven's Big Gulp.

Sixteen ounces of Starbucks coffee has 320 milligrams of caffeine. The Trenta will nearly double that. Thirty-one ounces of Coca-Cola has about 102 milligrams of caffeine. Four Rockstar energy drinks would give the same jolt of caffeine.

Still, to a two fisted coffee drinker, the Trenta sounds like the perfect solution.

The supersized coffee won't arrive in Denver until June and it will only be for iced coffee and iced tea. None of the frappucinos will be available in that size.
