Marches, Parades & Rodeo Mark Martin Luther King Jr. Day

DENVER (AP) - Coloradans marked Martin Luther King Jr. day with marches and parades as well as a rodeo.

Several thousand people participated in Denver's annual marade -- a combination march and parade -- walked down Colfax Avenue to Civic Center Park across from the state Capitol.

About 1,075 people took part in Greeley's 15th annual march and celebration in honor of King, making it the city's largest turnout. Gold-medalist gymnast Dominique Dawes was the keynote speaker at the Civic Center.

In Fort Collins, roughly 1,000 people marched from downtown to Colorado State University to mark the day.

The National Western Stock Show will also host its annual Martin Luther King Jr. African-American Heritage Rodeo on Monday evening.
