Mother Told Police She Was On Facebook When Baby Drowned

FORT LUPTON, Colo. (CBS4)- A mother told police that she was on Facebook when her baby drowned. Shannon Johnson is charged with child abuse resulting in death.

Johnson's 13-month-old son, Joseph, died in their Fort Lupton home in September 2010.

Johnson told police she left the boy in the bathtub, then went into another room to play a game on Facebook.

She told authorities she was leaving the baby alone because "he wanted to be left alone and was a very independent baby."

She also said she didn't want her son to be known as a "mama's boy."

Johnson found Joseph with his head underwater a few minutes later.
