Gov. Hickenlooper Sets Out On Colorado Jobs Tour

DENVER (AP) -- Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper is on a tour of the state to get help from local counties putting together an economic plan.

Hickenlooper began in Edwards in Eagle County. He told the audience made up of hundreds that he wanted their ideas.

"This can only really work if we get more people involved, not usual suspects but different suspects," said Hickenlooper.

He also talked about traffic and tourism.

"Most studies show somewhere between 80 and 90 percent of businesses move to an area because somebody first came there as a tourist," said Hickenlooper.

Starting this weekend, Hickenlooper plans to meet with business leaders, community members and local officials in a series of meetings to discuss job creation, government efficiencies and economic development and recovery.

Hickenlooper next heads to Fruita, Durango and Del Norte on the Western slope. Sunday, he'll stop in Pueblo and Colorado Springs. On Monday, the Governor makes his way to Limon and wraps up his economic tour in Loveland.
