Man Found Dead After Police Standoff In Northglenn
NORTHGLENN, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Northglenn say a man was found dead inside the home of an alleged sex offender after an overnight standoff.
Sgt. Rick Kellogg said the man shot himself in the head.
Police believe the man is Matthew Richard Anderson, who was wanted on three felony warrants, including internet sexual exploitation of a child and failing to register as a sex offender. The coroner hasn't identified the body yet.
The standoff began Monday evening when officers tried to serve a search warrant at Anderson's home. Police say a man fired numerous shots out of the front door, wounding an officer in his shoulder, and then barricaded himself inside.
SWAT teams entered the home at 2 a.m. Tuesday and found the body.
The officer is expected to recover.
