NORTHGLENN, Colo. (CBS4) – Police in Northglenn say a man was found dead inside the home of an alleged sex offender after an overnight standoff.

Sgt. Rick Kellogg said the man shot himself in the head.

Police believe the man is Matthew Richard Anderson, who was wanted on three felony warrants, including internet sexual exploitation of a child and failing to register as a sex offender. The coroner hasn’t identified the body yet.

The standoff began Monday evening when officers tried to serve a search warrant at Anderson’s home. Police say a man fired numerous shots out of the front door, wounding an officer in his shoulder, and then barricaded himself inside.

SWAT teams entered the home at 2 a.m. Tuesday and found the body.

The officer is expected to recover.

Note to the Northglenn Police: Kill this predator tonight to save the taxpayers the expense of a lifelong prison sentence.

He’s believed to be diseased. I live (ed) next door to him for a year. He is (was) very reclusive and I never actually met him… All of this was shocking and over with at around 1:45 a.m.

Just another reason why EVERYONE should respect law enforcement. How many people take jobs that they know they could end up dead serving their fellow men? I hope this cop gets well soon and I hope they got the guy and locked him up for good. YA DON’T SHOOT COPS!
