There’s fun to be had on New Year’s Day in Colorado. Below lie just a sampling of the offerings. Check our Local Events page for more options.
In Boulder you can take part in the Polar Plunge 2011 at the Boulder Reservoir, a benefit for the Alzheimer’s Association. Click on the logo below for more details.
In Evergreen the Skate the Lake annual celebration features pond skating and another polar plunge. This one is a plunge into the chilly lake through a hole cut into the ice. Get more info at evergreenicemelt.com and drivesmarte-c.org/theEvent.htm.
See CBS4’s video below from New Year’s Eve when skaters were out on the ice.
Skating is also recommended at the Southwest Rink at Skyline Park in downtown Denver next to the 16th Street Mall, where the following special event is taking place New Year’s Day:
7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
