Boy Run Over At Home Day Care In Thornton Dies

THORNTON, Colo. (AP) - State officials say a Thornton day care owner whose vehicle fatally struck an 18-month-old boy in her care had no record of complaints.

Thornton police spokesman Matt Barnes says 34-year-old Robyn Miller had loaded four children into her vehicle Thursday and backed up, believing everyone was inside. Barnes says she heard a bump and found she had hit Riley Lawyer, who had severe head injuries and died at a hospital.

Miller runs a day care business out of her home.

A prosecutor will decide if charges should be filed.

Colorado Department of Human Services spokeswoman Liz McDonough says there have been no complaints at the Miller home in the six years that Miller has been licensed to run a day care there.

A memorial fund has been set up for Riley Daniel Lawyer. It is at Wells Fargo, Account #6124016871. Funds are for his parents to pay for his funeral expenses.
