Denver Police Search For Driver Who Hit Pregnant Woman

DENVER (CBS4)- Police in Denver are searching for the driver of a dark-colored SUV who hit a pregnant woman in a crosswalk on Thursday evening.

The incident happened near the intersection of Central Park Boulevard and E. 29th Avenue, in the Stapleton neighborhood. Officers said the driver most likely went through two stop signs before hitting the woman.

The woman who was hit was 34 weeks pregnant. She was rushed to Denver Health Medical Center where the doctors had to perform an emergency delivery of the child. The condition of the child was not being released but the mother's condition was initially described as critical.

The victim was walking eastbound across Central Park Boulevard just after 5 p.m. when she was struck.

The suspect vehicle was described as a dark blue or black SUV or pickup truck. It was last seen traveling southbound on Central Park Boulevard.
