Pit Bull Ban Will Remain In Denver
DENVER (CBS4) - Pit bulls will not be coming to Denver. The city council shot down a measure Monday that would have allowed pit bulls inside city limits as service dogs.
The council had to act when the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was revised to let the disabled use pit bulls in March. The city is challenging the law, saying the new language is too vague and goes against the city's current pit bull ban.
A spokesman for the Animal Law Center Says the city is denying civil rights. The group has filed a class action lawsuit against Denver, saying the ADA makes any breed-specific ban illegal.
