COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A former youth pastor at a Colorado Springs church has been arrested on a charge of having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Joshua Paul Amoroso, 21, was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust.

No phone listing could be found for him, and it wasn’t clear if he had a lawyer. He hasn’t entered a plea.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reports Amoroso was a youth minister at for about a year, and that the 14-year-old was a church member.

The church says Amoroso was fired after the allegations surfaced.

Police say phone records indicate Amoroso and the girl exchanged more than 16,000 text messages and calls in three months.
