One of the many things I love about my job is getting the chance to learn about the different organizations in Colorado and what they do for our communities.

One of those foundations is the Women’s Foundation of Colorado.

I remember when I interviewed for the job at CBS4 my (now) General Manager used that organization as an example of how generous Coloradoans can be.

The luncheon (which took place today) brings in an astounding amount of money for the foundation and brings together around a thousand or so women.

Since accepting the job here nearly 3 years ago – I’ve had the pleasure to kick off the luncheon and witness how remarkable – and powerful – it is too see that many women together for one reason… better the lives of our women and girls in Colorado.

Alfre Woodard was the keynote speaker today – and she said so many things that made sense – but one thing she said stuck with me….she left the room with these words…”Ladies, start your engines.”

And that’s what I intend to do.

I desire to help in any way I can…now it’s up to me to gear up and take action.

Start my engine – so to speak.
